Standing in the same place as my favorite Hudson River School painter, Albert Bierstadt had stood to paint in 1881 was humbling and thrilling. However I purposely refrained from looking at his painting of the falls so I could paint my own impression of their awesome beauty and avoid copying someone else’s style.
