I covered a small canvas with shades of bluish and greenish blacks. Later when it was thoroughly dry I used sponges to lay- in the forest, the river bank, the moss covered rocks and foliage. The trick is not over doing it until it’s a muddy mess. I painted in the water loosely with a brush.
